An interesting piece from Wired suggesting that Google is trading traffic with ISPs and thus paying next to nothing for YouTube bandwidth.
Ridiculous to charge for API use if you want developers to bite. The article sums things up pretty well:
All of this is a shame, because the API appears like it could be useful. But Wolfram is over-promising what Alpha can deliver and setting a financial bar too high for general use.

Tom Turvey, Google’s director of strategic partnerships, now explains that the device does not need to be connected to the Internet to read the book after it was accessed once. He also clarified that the company is “not focused on a dedicated eReader or device of any kind.”
Interesting to se how Kindle consumers react when Google launches this service next year.
