Sony’s Q3 results

$211 million in net income for Networked Products & Services (VAIO PCs, video games).

In the game business, despite a decrease in PS2 hardware and software unit sales, and PSP hardware unit sales, profitability was relatively unchanged mainly due to an improvement in the cost of PS3 hardware.

Edge Online has posted an entire reprint of the SEGA/Sony PS3 confidential notes found on SEGAs FTP server.

A Microsoft Word document found on SEGA Americas FTP site, if genuine, reveals a few details about Sony’s upcoming plans for the PlayStation 3. One of these plans seems to be offering most, if not all PS2 titles for purchase on the PlayStation Network – no wonder backwards compatibility isn’t available on the PS3 Slim.

ComputerAndVideoGames.com reports that the PSN Store will be offline this afternoon – around the same time as the Sony press conference at GamesCom 2009 is set to take place. Apart from a rumored hardware refresh of the PS3, this news indicates that we could see some significant software/content updates as well.
