Mario Kart 8 is just as good as all the reviews make it out to be. The driving feels sublime, the balance seems good, and the colourful graphics help the game feel vibrant and alive. Not to mention the framerate—it is hard to explain just how big of a difference a solid 60 FPS makes.
The famous Nintendo polish is in full effect here.
The main issue I raised in the “About the decline of the mobile web” post was that apps and the web aren’t one and the same thing due to the lack of hyperlinking standards in the former.
Turns out I’m not the only one thinking about this. In fact, Facebook has done more than think about it—they’ve launched App Links.
Right now, linking on mobile is a lot more frustrating and complicated than it is on the web. There isn’t an easy, consistent way to control what happens when someone clicks on your content in mobile, which makes it difficult to provide the best experience for your users. It’s also hard to find out when—and how—to send people out of your app and directly into another.
We built App Links to help with that. It’s an open, cross-platform solution for app-to-app linking that gives you the tools you need to expose deep links in your app or to link out to others.
I’m humbled to say that my Shortcode plugin has reached the 10,000 download mark. Many thanks to all that have tried it!
