Today’s purchases: Donkey Kong Jungle Beat for the GameCube (I own the bongos, so why not) and Mario’s Tennis for the Virtual Boy (I admit I haven’t got a good reason for this one).

That makes 549 games in my collection. I wonder if I’ll break 600 before year’s end.

SEGA just announced that theĀ SEGA 3D Classics Collection is coming to retail in the US (it was only available in Japan previously).

I really wish they’d announce it for Europe, too. Mainly because M2 is behind the compilation, which ensures it’ll be absolutely top-notch.

Nintendo Begins Distributing Software Kit for New NX Platform

The exact shape of the NX hardware isn’t yet clear. People familiar with the development plans said Nintendo would likely include both a console and at least one mobile unit that could either be used in conjunction with the console or taken on the road for separate use. They also said Nintendo would aim to put industry-leading chips in the NX devices, after criticism that the Wii U’s capabilities didn’t match those of competitors.

Please be true. I don’t need bleeding edge hardware in my consoles or handhelds, but I do appreciate competitive specifications.

Satoru Iwata has passed away

Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.

Truly a great man. In an industry of rife with cynicism, he always came of as a sincere person who genuinely loved games and the joy they bring. Rest in peace.

Picked up Splatoon during the weekend. I’ve only had the chance to play some single-player missions but boy, this is really something else. I haven’t had this much fun with a shooter in ages.
